Mat Geddes

Singer | Songwriter | Guitarist

Mat Geddes is a singer-songwriter from Victoria, British Columbia, whose solo music blends alt-folk, roots rock, alternative country, with a subtle Nashville influence. His songs explore love, mortality, consciousness, and the search for meaning in an uncertain world. His new solo album, The Gedi Night, was recorded in Nashville with Juno Award-winning producer and guitarist Steve Dawson and is set for release in September 2026.

Geddes writes about the journey of life, rooting travel experiences in a distinct West Coast perspective. His songs are built around expressive vocals, vivid lyrics, and melodies that move naturally between quiet intimacy and fuller roots-rock arrangements. Rather than offering easy answers, his writing stays close to the questions that shape a life: how we love, what we lose, what we remember, and how we continue to find light.

The Gedi Night was recorded at The Henhouse Studio with Dawson, drummer Justin Amaral, and bassist William Moore. Built live in the studio, the album captures the natural interaction of musicians playing together in the Nashville style. Its eleven songs move through loss, hope, uncertainty, wonder, and renewal. The blend of coastal atmosphere and Nashville craftmanship transports the listener.

Alongside his solo work, Geddes is also the lead singer, rhythm guitarist, and principal songwriter for the Victoria alt-rock band Door d’Or, whose album The Exquisite Dream was released in May 2026.

With new solo music arriving throughout the summer and The Gedi Night coming in September, Geddes is entering a new stage of his work as a songwriter and performer.
